I’m really excited to share today’s post with you! This lunch spot is infamous around Chicago, and unlike any other restaurant that I’ve shared before.
Bombacigno’s is located in the West Loop: 558 W Van Buren, and are open for lunch 11am-3pm Monday-Saturday. Don’t forget cash, they don’t accept credit cards. The weekday lunch rush starts around 11:30am and dies down by 2pm. The set up is a deli-style ordering system, so you’re responsible for getting your meal to your table. There is additional seating upstairs or at the bar where they offer a select assortment of brews.
This little dive offers classic Italian sandwiches and pastas. Each sandwich is offered with a side of fries or their famous pasta (spaghetti) salad. Don’t want all those carbs? Any ‘wich can be made into a salad. Want to nix an ingredient? Dont worry, they’ll load everything else on there to compensate.
This place isn’t extremely vegetarian friendly, but it can be accomplished without a fuss. I ordered the grilled vegetable sandwich, and Katie ordered the Caprese sandwich as a salad; both vegetarian without even trying!
Overall, we really enjoyed our meals and will definitely be back. Next time I may order my sandwich in salad form because there was slightly too much bread, and well… you know how I feel about my bread:fillings ratio.
Do you have a favorite dive-bar or hole in the wall eatery?
