Friends Sushi-Chicago

The restaurant I am reviewing today is new to my radar. My girlfriends and I have been passing this place for years but had never really seen it, until now. A couple of us were walking by and decided to check out the menu because we were in the mood to try something new. Friends Sushi immediately stood out because of the fruit infused sushi (oranges, apples, & pears, oh my!). One thing I do want to point out is that it is slightly pricey but comparable to other sushi restaurants offering similar dishes.

Friends Sushi gets a green review: GO for it!
The atmosphere has a modern vibe with white funky chairs and yellow lighting. It provided a dark intimate feel even though the tables were a little bit crowded. The waiter was perfectly attentive and came at all the right times.
We ordered edamame and veggie+shrimp tempura to start. Everyone loved both appetizers.
We proceeded to order what we thought was slightly too much, but then ended up finishing it and ordering one more roll… what can we say we love sushi!

Look at these cuties. Too bad Missy and I didn’t make the picture 🙁
The Winter roll was the nights winner. Everyone LOVED it. The taste and textures were absolutely perfect. I highly recommend ordering this roll  if  when  you go.
The Friends roll was yummy. I was honestly expecting more taste of apple and the different flavors, especially considering it is the house roll. The textures blended very well but and it was a great version of a typical maki roll.
The Jimmai roll was liked by most, hated by one. Kate (bottom, left) has a hard time dealing with the texture of fish when it is very apparent in/on a roll. Unfortunately, this roll was one of them. I could see what she meant. The flavors were great though.
The Salsa roll really did have the taste of salsa. It was a really good, kind of spicy, flavor of salsa that you would and wouldn’t expect all at the same time. Katie (top, left) and I were gun-hoe for this roll when we saw it on the menu.
The Devils Tuna was really good as well. I love any roll with tuna. Kate doesn’t. Kate liked this roll. That means you should probably try it.
In Summary: GO!
The bill got expensive, especially with drinks, but there were 6 of us to split it so it made the price a little better. The service and atmosphere were exactly what you should expect from a restaurant with such prices. The flavors and textures meshed perfectly, especially with the fruit in some. I really enjoyed my experience and we will all be going back soon!
