Jake Melnick’s Chicago

Happy Thirsty Thursdays Gourmies!
Today’s post is a little something to get our palate whet for the upcoming weekend. Phew.
Jake Melnick’s is a Chicago icon for beer and wings, and is conveniently located just a block south of classes. They are famous for their wings (my friend from Buffalo, NY approves!) and take pride in the bar ambiance they provide. It’s a really great place to catch a game and enjoy a beer from their extensive list
The first time I went was to enjoy some delicious cider beer, and find myself visiting mostly in the fall of the warm summer months. The cactus margarita, The Desert Rose, is actually one of my favorite twist on the traditional marg, infused with cactus and papaya for subtle but distinct flavors.
I’m sure that will change though, ever since I discovered the Fried Pickles on the menu. If you don’t know this already, I have an unreal obsession with pickles. I’ve only ever had them fried once before, and I have officially fallen in love with the crispy perfection. Unfortunately there is literally one other thing on the menu that is really easily veganizable, so I find myself avoiding it for an actual meal. However, if you are in the mood for greasy comfort food, the veggie burger is made fresh with black beans, rice and veggies and is absolutely hearty and delicious. So, the moral of the story here is if you are in the mood for fried comfort food, a beer and a game check Jake Melnick’s out.
We ordered a round of Stella’s and the pickles to share before heading off to our next location.

Enjoy!
