I wasn’t planning on doing a product review any time soon, but for some reason over the last couple of days everything I’ve eaten I have also “reviewed” in my head! I think it’s a sign, right?
Today’s product review:
I want to first off start by saying that I have not been paid or compensated in any way to make this review.. I went out and bought this product on my own without any third party incentive.
As many of you know, I am obsessed with nut (and seed!) butters. Obsessed. Plain and simple. I can and will eat it on anything and everything.
Today was my first time trying Justin’s Nut Butter after many acknowledgements between the two of us at the grocery store (aka me picking it up, looking at it, reviewing nutritional info, ingredients, price, size, etc…). I finally gave in because I figured I could take home a couple of the different .5oz packets and be guilt free of buying a whole jar if I wasn’t satisfied. I do have reason to doubt you know, I have a track record with bad butters…
Anyways, after my jog and foam-roller adventures this afternoon, I decided to have a refuel snack of sliced apple and one of Justins .5oz packets. I purchased two: Maple Almond Butter and Honey Peanut Butter. The first one that jumped into my hand was the Maple A.B. so I went with it.
I ripped open the perforated corner that led me to expose only a small corner -not the entire side (can you see my frustration for when that happens)- so we’re off to a good start. I squeezed the entire content of the pouch onto my plate, and it looked like it had great texture!
I weighed the amount and it was a little shy of what it said it had at 27g (the normal butter serving is usually around 32g). That’s okay with me because I already had sunflowerseed butter today, so I’ll take any little bit of moderation I can get (ha!).
I grabbed the last little drop with my finger and delivered it straight to my mouth and took about a second to absorb the flavors and textures…
I am IN LOVE with this butter. I loved every single morsel of it. I could have eaten it plain (that’s not too unusual, but still). It’s a good thing I didn’t buy a jar because it would honestly be half empty by now. The maple flavor was delicate but apparent.
The ground almond texture was thick and grainy (both in GREAT ways).
The marriage of sweet and salty was divine.
The way the butter paired with my apple was impressive; it toned down the sweetness of the ripe juice from my cold apple but complemented it in such a way that I could taste both flavors well. I must note that I find that most of the time, when paired with an apple, the flavor
of nut butters gets tossed to the back burner on my taste buds… so this accomplishment is a double thumbs up. I will be sure to purchase this product again.
Conclusion: I would highly recommend this product! Go out & get some!
